Re: Former Olympian run down by car while on training ride
Maybe we should start the "Tour de Newfoundland". We wouldn't have to hire colour commentators, just mike the riders and let it speak for itself.

Re: WTB: Wheelset for Winter Bike
I also have a set of ZED Hurricane SL's at just under 1500 g's that are easily strong enough. However, I just put them away for the winter and back to my old Mavic's for the crummy conditions.

Brian,
With the oddity of that stem height and bar tape on that old classic along with the beard and strained look on your face, I'm pretty sure you've nailed the Euro-Classical Cycling tourist thing. Tell us your not sporting a Canadian flag and taken up smoking un-filtered cigarettes!?

Re: Willis Point hillclimb
Yes! Very good efforts from both Stephane and Brent. Not much to report otherwise as the season ending event wasn"t well attended - there were only 5 "C's". Young Erik Diertens had a great finishing time with yours truly 25 second's back. Richie and John Wilcox didn't show so the poin...

Re: Observatory
WOW! I suck!! I got killed by over half a minute by Richie and then got relagated down the finishing order by a bunch of the juniors.
Part of the humbling effect of racing... Some would just pack it in but instead I'll go back to training again. One day....

Last night's Newton Heights race
There was a small field all around last night with roughly 20 making up the A,B and C field. Andrew and I were the only two TS'ers to start (Roland DNS with missing gear). I passed one tail rider and I guess my power (getting passed by a C racer) made him pack it in and DNF'd. Otherwise, I was keepi...

Wanted to borrow: Aero helmet for Aug 28 (Sidney TT)
Looking to borrow a pointy hat for this last VCL TT to improve points chase in the "C" division.
Please pm me if anyone has one to lend for the race.
Thanks.

Re: Caleb August 15th
So there really is two of you SL's?! Great effort and result!! Andrew, sorry to hear of your mech. Having just serviced my pedals a few hours before the race, sounds like I overted a similar outcome. C's were made up of Richie and myself. Four of the O2 strength and a herd of Zebra youth. O2 kept th...

Caleb tomorrow?
Here's my standard plea for the Cat "C" group for tomorrow's race. Richie and I gave it a good run at Sunday's TT in Cowichan and hope to be in form for tomorrow. Meanwhile, we heard the O2 team were sitting it out and resting up for the Caleb race. Who's up for some TS team efforts and he...

WS Crit on Wed night.
Who's in for some TS "C" cat racing? Last race we had a good run at the O2 guys and got them really frustrated after Ritchie's late bridge to Simon and Vanesa's break and a Victory!
I'll be back and looking to help our team take it to them again. Who's in???

Re: Sidney TT - July 31
Let's not forget the rest. Ritchie came out for his first time and had a very respectable time of 28:10, Duncan (junior) turned a quick 27 flat and yours truely shaved almost a minute off my last time. All of which are done on road bikes sans technology! Gotta find me a pointy hat and drop those bar...

Thought I'd give this a try. I've been up and down that mountain a thousand times but never on a bike. Hills are much more significant on bikes! And, that was a bit of a beast. Alan and Harry of 02, a mix of individual as well as a few of the PC youngsters showed for the C group contenders. I had no...

Latoria - July 24
I decided to go "C" afterall as I had goaded a few into coming out. Kris, Richie, Michael Lawless and myself made up the biggest team as the O2 guys were missing other than Keith Kendal. Two of the PC youngsters and one other made up the smaller field. Tactics of a smaller group are quite ...

Re: Latoria - July 24
That's the game plan then. Richie, you and I will give them a run. Great to get a few others in the mix. Where's Paul C? Maybe we can put some reins on David and keep him in till the bell lap. Vanessa, Kris you both should be in there!

Well, not sure what to report. We had three in the "C" pack, Simon Pearson, Michael Lawless and myself. Large pack of young Zebra's and three very strong O2 guys (Simon, Harry and Alan). Both the other teams had well defined race plans and both executed them very well. We - had no plan and...

Newton Heights July 11th
Well, that was different. No "C" cat tonight so a trial by fire bump to "B". Pace is higher which isn't a huge problem but going from 8 laps to 15 on such a hilly race really adds to the adjustment. Al and I were looking around for other TS'ers and he can give a roster along with...
