Ride to Parksville Saturday June 29 2013

Post by bikehart »

My family went camping without me ... and as I sit in the Dallas airport trying to convince myself to ride the 150 km to meet them tomorrow I think to myself that there may just be someone else crazy enough to come.

Hey Hugh, nothing builds character more than a 150 K ride up the highway on your own!! Have fun with that!

This sounds like something Mark Ford would do!

What a coincidence! I'm heading up under similar circumstances. I was planning on a 5:30 departure but would gladly leave earlier to have the company. What do you want to do?

I love this club!

I highly recommend taking the Kilmatu turn-off just after Mill Bay and onto Telegraph Road, up through Cow Bay, Crofton, Chemainus etc. The roads are great and it's way better than the highway. Have fun.

It was an awesome ride with Hugh. We had a 5am departure and our lone stop in Ladysmith. It took us 5hrs to Rathtrevor, no flats, no mechanicals. I'd love to do it again with your suggestions Geoff. We stuck to the highway the whole ride...pros and cons. Highlights: the company, the cinnamon bun, the weather, the post ride ocean dip. It was a great cruise in prep for the Vic to Cow ride in August.
Thanks Hugh.
