Traveling with a carbon frame bike

Post by L2R »

I have an EVOC soft sided bike bag and I am wondering how people pack their bikes into a soft sided case. Do you just pack it into the bag or do you protect it with bubble wrap and or soft foam padding? Thanks in advance.

I always use that soft foam used for insulating plumbing and wrap it around all the different tubes to protect as much as possible. Probably the most important thing is to take the derailleur off the frame so it or the hanger doesn't get bent. But then, don't have a few drinks at your destination and try to put your bike back together - you might cross-thread the bolt holding your derailleur on. Just sayin...
