Sep 20 - Ambassadors Ride Hillside Quadra & Gordon Head

Mostly nonsense. Also riding bicycles inappropriate for off road terrain, off road; GIFs

Sep 20 - Ambassadors Ride Hillside Quadra & Gordon Head

Post by schouten »

I have it on good authority that Wayne & Jess are up for a tour of Hillside/Quadra and that a plan was brewing to combine this with Gordon Head (greg/L3?)... Most excellent!!

Image

This requires route planners to agree on a start and finish point. How about we start with Gordon Head and wind our way into Hillside Quadra? We can meet 6:00am at OBH, do a pick-up closer to Gordon Head and wind our way to a coffee shop of choice...

Sounds groovy, Ron. Wayne and Jess jumped at the chance to share their 'hood a bit already on Wednesday; they showed us a new side of Fernwood. Wayne appeared crestfallen when we ran out of time and had to head for coffee.

Seeya in the morning (unless Funtimes-Alan keeps me up too late tonight...)

*Edited to conform with ride thread GIF theme.

Looks like an interesting theme developing here.

We're a bit late getting to this. One of us can make it out tmrw morning - we're undecided yet who and whether we can stay for the whole ride.

I wasn't sure how long of a loop to consider since we're doing Hillside/Quadra too and want to have enough time for both neighborhoods. I mapped out a little route that doesn't stray too far and hits a few fun little bits. This is assuming folks come up Shelbourne on a B train to save time - meeting up at the 711 on Shelbourne and Feltham (615 am?). My little loop is about 12K according to a roughed out map and supposed to take 40 minutes. I planned it so that we end up back at Bow trail which leads pretty conveniently to CHG which gets us back to the Hillside/Quadra area?

Open to other ideas but hopefully we can pin it down before 930 pm????

Sorry Ron - no Hollydene beach tmrw; the tides aren't favorable but we will definitely do that one when we have more time for GH and the tides are right.

Sounds good Louise. If we don't see you at OBH we'll meet you at at 6:15.

That was a huge success! Thank you everyone for your efforts and participation. Some takeaways:

2 neighbourhoods is probably good
Need to budget no more than 45 minutes per hood
Ending at a new cafe near the last hood works well

'Til next time!!

Glad it worked out, even if you guys did get my dog into a barking frenzy. She must have smelled her owner as he rode by....stinky much?

Or maybe it was your chatter!

I was bummed to miss but it all came together too late last night for us to work out all the nuances of a complex weekday morning. I will check the tide tables and maybe we can do my hood again when Hollydene is at low tide and a bit of different GH route.
