Cyclocross is coming to Victoria! November 7th and 8th.
Nov 7th: Sluggett Farms
Nov 8th: Juan de Fuca
Lets try and get a decent easter egg turnout! No excuses - I don't care if you sold your cross bike or you fell in a ditch. All you need is a cyclocross, mountain or any knobby tired bike, a few bucks and a desire to have fun.
Beginner race is at 11:00, intermediate at noon, women at 1:00. If you have absolutely no off road experience, you may want to start in beginner. Otherwise, if you can hang with the Tripleshot A ride, you are more than strong enough to go intermediate. Women probably want to start in beginner, since it's a pretty big jump from beginner to open women. There is a free clinic before the beginner race to introduce you to cross.
Cost is $10 for beginner and $20 for all other races. Bring your license!
I've got some stuff to loan. If you don't have a bike, you can borrow my Santa Cruz Superlight. It's not a cross bike, but it'll do just fine. I've got an extra set of cross wheels with a 10 speed cassette. And probably two sets of cross tires.
Let me know what I can do to get you out there. Cyclocross is too much fun to miss.

Re: Victoria Cyclocross Double Header: Nov 7/8
I'm going to do this. Saturday anyway. A couple of questions...
I'm an avid mountain biker and not quite a triple shot "A" - still the intermediate race?
What is a license and how do you get one?
Where is slugget farm?
Anyone have a triple shot jersey I can borrow for the race?
geoff

Yes, assuming you have a 'cross bike or a fairly light cross country bike. For example Ian Ross finishes mid pack (15/30 & 19/30) in intermediate on a converted touring bike. I think your mountain biking skills would definitely give you an advantage. I think you'd be more than fine in intermediate.
CyclingBC Citizen license or UCI license. If you don't have one, you can get day-of insurance for $10.
Sluggett Farms is on West Saanich near Keating X Road.
I'm sure somebody does.

So did I manage to convince anybody to come out? Look at these great courses?
Saturday: Perfectly flat, long straights. This course is designed for Peter.
Sunday: Hills and twists. Crazy fun!
So I'll see you there, right?
