Long Weekend

Post by barton bourassa »

A few of us have talked about 400k in 4 days over the long weekend. Maybe something like a couple days of 100K, one day of short but intense hills, and a loooooong slow ride, maybe 140 or so.
The current thought is to start on Friday, do the regular ride and then keep going for another 60K stopping for coffee only after 100K is reached. Then discuss the plan for Saturday's ride, to be posted here after consensus. Some general thinking is to drive up to Shawnigan Lake, ride around the lake then to Goldstream Heights and then back the same way. Lots of elevation in about 60 K or so.
We would be looking at a C+ or B pace, nothing too crazy! As this is a Tripleshot ride, everyone and anyone is welcome. Any type As could just pull longer!

One more thing, we would like to start each day at 6 AM!

Now your talking.
An alternative weekend 400k plan for consideration:

1. 100k on Friday.
2. Rest on Saturday.
3. 200k on Sunday Join Vanessa, Curt and myself on a 200k randonneuring ride starting in Chamainus at 7am!! http://www.randonneurs.bc.ca/routes/201 ... 7_200.html
4. An easy 100k on Monday

I was hoping that Easter Monday could be the annual Goldstream Heights Express Ride.

I would love to do a full-on Goldstream Heights ride on Saturday or Monday. One option is to take the Brentwood-Mill Bay ferry.

I would be in for that on Monday. Perhaps a few observatories on the way out. I would be catching a car ride back.

great. I have never taken the ferry before. there is many things that could be thrown in Observatory, or meet at Starbucks do Munns, Willis Point on the way to Brentwood to Millbay.
But I really want someone to stop and have coffee with when we are done

Wow, sounds like we could have ourselves an epic ride on Monday. I like the sound of Munn(s)/Willis Point/Wallace to Brentwood, ferry across to Mill Bay and then Shawnigan Lake/Goldstream Heights.
The ferry schedule is here: http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/main ... ml#notices. I would prefer the earliest crossing (7:30am), but am flexible. The forecast is good too, for what it's worth.

Sounds like a plan. Not sure which Starbucks you mean though; what is the cross street?

:) Will take that under advisement. I'm heading to AZ for a week of stupid riding on Tuesday, so may want to be a little conservative this weekend.

I'm in for a regular Cish ride on Friday morning. Unfortunately I have to go to work after, but I'm hoping someone will stay and have coffee with me?

Sounds Good Glenowyn, Monday 6 AM, ride out to the Mill Bay Ferry for the 7:30 sailing then to Shawnigan Lake Road and Goldstream Heights.

And don't worry Andrea, I am sure there will be many still going to coffee after the regular Friday ride.

For the extended version, for this intersted, shall we meet at the Fisherman's Wharf Moka House at the end of the regular Friday and leave from there right away for another 60K?

Well, 102 K down, 298 to go!
Tomorrow's plan is to meet at Cook St Moka Hse at 6 for a quick shot then replicate the usual Sunday Ride, waterfront, Matticks, Island View, Wallace, Willis, Durrance, Munn, Home! Should be just over 80 K.

See you there!

I'm in but will need to pad the ride out to about 100k: I need to log 3:40 or so.

Phew! Another early morning and 88 K down! Only 210 to go!

It was spectacular out there today, if a little chilly! But hey, when your riding along at a heart rate of 140, 2 or 3 C doesn't feel so bad! There were 7 of us this AM, John T, Adam, Gab, Dave S, Kate, and Steve. All but Steve went up Willis, Durrance and Munn. Fabulous I tell you!

Tomorrow the plan is to meet again at Cook St Moka House at 6 and ride up to and around Elk Lake and then join up with the regular Sunday ride around the golf course or Oak Bay Marina and ride with them till they cross Island View. The Long Rangers will head up the highway to Lochside, Landsend, Chalet and points beyond and shoot for 160. Come on out, join us! It should be so much fun!!!
