Re: Garmin Edge 500 or 800???

Interesting.... Sounds like they both work well for training but the weight might be a factor for racing. (?)
Conversely, for away rides and/or other activities, the 800 would be very handy. Hummm....

Garmin Edge 500 or 800???

Opinions? I know the main difference being navi and about $200. Who's using them and any advice you can share from your experience?

Re: High speed wobble question

I'm guessing you put yourself in an aggressive aero position and perhaps had your weight to far forward loading up your front wheel. Keeping an even weight balance by keeping your hips back should correct. Can't see wheel flex or mechanical looseness (beyond the obvious) being your issue.

I'm in for a couple of the bandana's if we can get enough for the order. And John, both are for me - no sharing with Alli on this one. :)

Re: Done to death...?

Thanks and I agree with both of you and would lean towards the more durable tires except it seems a bit defeating to go to a light high tech wheel, skewers etc and then not match them with race tech tires. Perhaps just have to budget for more replacements.... Leaning towards the GP4000S's as a bit o...

Done to death...?

I'm sure many are tired of it and everyone has preferrences etc but I have a new set of wheels coming and wondering what tires to get? Of course, I want the best and have varied applications - group rides, racing and a few Granfondos so getting the best at one will compromise other aspects but what ...

Re: Cycling Movie Night at the Roxie

I'll be there. Not sure if I have much to contribute towards racing concepts/tactics but I enjoyed observing the race last weekend. More importantly, just ordered some new wheels from Brad! I may just make it out to a race - when it's not snowing/hailing and cold enough for ski gloves...

Re: Tues_av_spd

From the looks of it, if the weather persists, you should be getting speeds of 41km out Shelbourne but only 15km and some unusual salt pitting on the left side of your bikes at Ross Bay.
Avg spd = 19kms...

I'm thinking of going to rollers simply for the sheer adrenalin rush when you loose focus for a moment...

Re: VCL Calendar - 2012

I'm somewhat interested in trying the some of the C races and perhaps a Master's race but beyond having only tried one of the "learn to race series" at Western Speedway, have no other experience (cycle racing).
I'll try to make the meeting tonight.

Re: This Morning's B Ride

I remember on one of my first "B" rides being three back of the lead going past Ross Bay Cemetary (fitting location) and, as a gap started to develop off my front wheel, yelling out "steady up!". I can still hear the snickering from the front three as they lit it up and stretched...

Re: One kit, two kits, black kit, blue kit?

Given that we've already got both Baby Blue and Black kits in circulation and that people may have colour preferrences, why not just leave both in production so that people aren't forced to replace? Simply add/subtract sponsors names on new production.

Re: One kit, two kits, black kit, blue kit?

Not sure it really matters much as I have both jersey's but am not that active in the racing. I would guess that to be partly true for a number of members. Short of an elite race team that needs/wants to be identified outside of the membership body perhaps the best bet is to continue with the two cu...

Such a quagmire of a topic and not one to be taken lightly. Stripping Contador of tour titles!!! Very disappointing and I'm not even a Contador fan.... Leave's me thinking who is clean and who just hasn't been caught (yet)? What's acceptable or is it (at all)?

Yup. No lights, reflective vests but at least brain buckets... The kid look scared out of his mind and given he was effectively being dragged behind w/o any control, showed he had more smarts than dear old Dad. Hey, maybe it was Evil and his kid Robby Knievel!
