The Silly Solstice Song...
Posted: Tue Dec 21, 2021 2:15 pm
The old timers in the club will remember that around about now we used to ride the winter version of the Silly Solstice ride, immortalized in this song.
(I took Rolf's words and added a melody through a few strumming chords.
AN ODE TO SILLY SOLTICE
Lyrics by Rolf Warburton; Music by Alan Cassels. Dec 2017.
Verse 1
Dm
Round and round the ring we go,
C
To mark a special day.
Bb
Declination (don't-cha-know)
A
Means darkness has its say.
Verse 2
Dm
Simon, Kate, and Barton Bou.,
C
("Insane", their sobriquet)
Bb
Planned this madness* (winters too)
A
Four years ago last May.**
CHORUS 1
Sooooo...
C
Bring your soft perineum,
Am
Your courage I inveigh.
F
Club and pride demand we numb
G
Butt-esticle-ginae!
Verse 3
Dm
Solstice is when Tripleshot,
C
En masse comes out to play.
Bb
Beacon Hill, through rain we've fought,
A
A hundred laps of spray.
Verse 4
Dm
Summer weather asks for miles:
C
One-sixty laps display.
Bb
Winter's discount reconciles:
A
It's just one hundred K.***
CHORUS
C
Damn this ring, around we go
Am
For reasons, unbeknown
F
Club and pride demand we numb
G
Butt-est-icle-gin-ae!
BRIDGE
Am
Before we earn our drinks
Dm
At Fantastico in China,
Em
Many miles must be rid
Am
On our buttesticalagina
CHORUS 2(play twice)
Sooooo...
C
Bring your soft perineum,
Am
Your courage I inveigh.
F
Club and pride demand we numb
G
Butt-esticle-ginae!
Am….Am. (fade out…)
