Race Report: Escape Velocity Stage Race

Somehow Peter tricked me into going over to Vancouver on Saturday to get classified for Paralympic competition and to compete in a TT to set a time standard. I figured if I was going over for the TT I might as well make a trip out of it and compete in the Crit as well. I was busy on the Sunday, so I couldn't stay for the road race.
I raced in the B category which is 'most of the Category 3's and very fast 4's'
First up was the crit. About 30 of us started, it was windy but the roads were dry. I was in the back 3rd of the pack, but the yoyo wasn't too bad so I didn't really feel the need to move up. It was very windy, so I didn't want to be anywhere near the front. Things were fairly uneventful for the first 35 minutes, then the rain started. Just light rain, but I don't like crits in the rain. I eased up a bit and drifted to the back of the pack. With 2 laps to go, I missed an acceleration and got popped off of the back of the pack. Didn't really want to sprint in the rain anyway. I was just happy to stay with the pack pretty much the entire race.
Race #2 was the TT. Almost perfectly flat, but once again, very windy. I started 30 seconds behind Peter, but never saw him. Dave Shishkoff started 1 minute ahead and I had him in view by the end. The guy who started behind me passed me 1 or 2 km into the TT, going about 5 km/h faster than me. He caught Peter was well. I finished exactly mid pack, but my time was too slow, so Peter said he doesn't want to coach me anymore.

Racing in Vancouver was tons of fun. Anybody want to go over and do Race The Ridge or K-Town Classic?
