Bike Service During Pandemic

Who's fixing your bike(s) these days?

As time goes on, the chances rise of requiring mechanical assistance for something beyond my meagre technical abilities (ie. pumping tyres with air and squirting lubricant in the general direction of my bike.)

Bike mechanics are designated essential service providers, but many bike stores appear to be closed, or are significantly restricted. Read today's TC article on Trek Pro City's response to the pandemic and learn about their impressive "bike quarantine" process! :o I hear OBB offers free pickup and delivery, but MEC's closed, and Fairfield's only doing flats and minor fixes. Russ Hay's has curbside pickup, and prefers you book ahead. What about VĂ©lofix, Straight Up, Giant, Fort Street, North Park?

Any knowledge, tips, or experiences appreciated...

Broad Street Cycles is open for sales and service, but with limited hours so that their staff can remain safe. Details here:

https://www.broadstcycles.ca/covid-19-hours/

Also, I believe the MEC bike service is open.

Velofix is still operational too. There is about a 2 week lead in time, so be patient.

MEC is closed.
Most bike shops are open and busier than ever.
I have been to Russ Hays and The PitStop, (Cook near Fort) in the last 2 days.
Some like Fort st have shorter hours.

My Advice or I guess it is an opinion:

Go Outside and Ride.

A few coffee shops are open for take out coffee.
Both Bubby's about 7 to 4
Fantastico Dockside 9 to 2
All Tim Hortons.

Perhaps You can add to the coffee list.

Giant Bike are open for service and sales, was in yesterday getting my bike. They are busy busy and about 10 days lead time for maintenance or service calls...Plan ahead! As Ann said, same with Broad st. Pretty much no browsing, it's either you know what you want and call ahead to reserve it or book a service. Thank god for bikes!
