Proof that gravel bikes are just Mtn bikes from the 80s. This is a fun distraction and brought a smile to my face. I had a fanny pack very similar to that.

I think there is some logic to the statement that Gravel Riding is just 80s/90s Mountain Biking. But that's a not a bad thing.
Mountain biking tech and terrain have evolved so much over the past few decades that most riders drive out to a dedicated terrain park and leave all the "lesser" trails alone. In a way, Gravel bikes are just reclaiming a forgotten pastime (all the XC riders I saw in Thetis notwithstanding).
Now, Gravel Bike tech is waaaay better than an old 80s Mountain Bike in my opinion. But we really need to start tucking t-shirts into lycra shorts again.

...I just call them Peroxide Curls.
Seriously, Mark. Very "cool". Almost makes me want to dig the old GT Outpost out of the back shed for a photo session...

Wow, Mark. That's very brave of you! Maybe I'll muster up the courage to reciprocate. Although my 90s hair has nothing on yours!

Next thing we know someone will introduce front suspension, then rear suspension, then trail design will change, different gravel genres will develop, and old guys will be talking about the good old days of gravel

Keep letting these quips slip out and “Roadie Ron” just might stick, y’know!
