Stats seem to confirm that yes, that hurt.

Peter and I two man TT'd it from ash on, with the help of Ramsey until the top of caddy bay. Then Peter punished me the rest of the way.
Lap 4 from ash to the finish was 33.6km/h average with a 168 average heart rate for 34+ minutes (that includes the cool down to the coffee shop). I know we had a lap average of just under 36km/h when we got to the bottom of king george, so we lost a lot of speed into that headwind along the water. Looks like we got down to 16.8km/h as we went around the corner at the top of clover point. That would be the 2x4 you said you felt like we were getting hit by, Peter?

I have to say that it was Josh handing out the slices of Pain Pie! I wanted to quit for about 20' but he wouldnt let me - bastard! When Ramsey sat up at the top of Caddy I was hapy to sit up as well but then Josh gave me what can only be described as a withering look saying that he was "happy" (that is right HAPPY #@&%*!) to keep going. Then I found myself on his wheel some more - blech!

Stats here: http://connect.garmin.com/player/28067024

Looks like my Max HR was 176 as I jumped for Ramsey's wheel going up Ash and then there is very little recovery for the balance of the ride. My guess is avg HR of 165 from Ash to the Sprint.

On a side note do any of you garmin guys know how I can go back in and add a lapmarker so I can work out averages for various sections? I could do it with the Polar but I havent figured out a way to do it on the garmin yet.

I'm just glad I stayed upright when I hit that rut down the hill towards Ash. A big crash 25 minutes into my first Tripleshot ride? That woulda been disappointing.

To add lap splits I use SportTracks - http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/ - Garmin Connect blows a bit and the Garmin desktop software, Training Center or something like that, seemed really bad the first time I used it and I haven't opened it since.

My max HR today was 192, which would be the first time over 190 in quite awhile, and I averaged 171 for an hour. At the end of that hour I combusted just past the cemetery and lamely coasted to the finish. I've maxxed at 205 both indoors and on the road on the bike, and while running. I hope to hit 200 again soon, maybe up Mt. Tolmie on a Wednesday.

So the condition is very very bad, but this can only be improved by efforts such as today, and the sensations this morning were acceptable, in the circumstances. I'd like to thank the club and the sponsors for having faith in me. This gives me confidence for the future. Perhaps I will shave my legs and renew my acquaintance with this beautiful sport which attracts such dedicated athletes.

as long as you keep it tranquillo, sylvan :) the sensations will come

Holy rabbit heart though, you can really get it up there. I think I've seen over 190 maybe half a dozen times ever.

I am tranquillo. I have nothing to fear. I have nothing to hide. I do not have a dog. He is not a dog, he is a dietician.

I don't have a bike right now, either, so I'm out for the weekend rides. Back at it Tuesday.

Good Euro action the next two days, should be solid streaming video from Harelbeke and Wevelgem: http://cyclingfans.com/

Shoot, Sylvan. You sure can talk the talk. :D I don't think the club and sponsors have any faith in me, but I'll just keep showing up until they make me sit at another table at coffee.

Welcome...

[You know if you keep coming you're going to have to donate timing chips at some point, right? ]
