Sunday, March 22 - sheilds lake coffee - CANCELLED (again)

Mostly nonsense. Also riding bicycles inappropriate for off road terrain, off road; GIFs

Sunday, March 22 - sheilds lake coffee - CANCELLED (again)

Post by schouten »

As you know, the weather was so cold and crappy today we scrapped the Terranova ride. Well, most of us did. A few brave souls went out and said the route was so good they want to do it again. So, I propose we head out with our coffee supplies next Sunday. I hope those that were keen for this ride can make it.

Weather forecast is practically tropical. Low of 6 high of 11!!!! Let's leave at 7:30 from Cookbucks so we can ride in pure sunlight.

Please reply if you will attend and what you will bring. Again, this is a full day ride so seek spousal support.

Ride Proposal: Terra Nova Coffee Loop

Coles Notes
7:30am Depart from Cookbucks (7:55am SB pickup compat.)
Goose out to Sea to Sea Regional Park Parking lot
- potential diversion near Lester B Pearson College (CFB Esquimalt); I see trails! And Goose needs some fun.
Within Sea to Sea Regional Park
- Sword Fern Trail (North)
- Sooke Mountain Park Road (North)
- Quimper Main (West) to Fire Lookout Tower
- FM Radio/Juniper (East)
- Sooke Mountain Park Road (North)
- Ridge Access Trail to Sheilds Lake (North)
- Lunch, Coffee, Shenanigans
- Sooke Mountain Park Rd (East)
- Terra Nova (East - only the good bits)
Sooke Rd to Humpback Rd
Thetis to E&N and Home

Likely Riders
Ron - caffeinated grounds, two bite brownies, personal cup
Rob - stove, fuel, pot, french press, Decaffeinated Coffee Grounds, cup
Markus - sharing snacks, cup
David - sharing snacks, cup

I'm committed to build our hotly-anticipated bike storage facility (garden shed) this weekend and can't do an epic. I'm up for a normal ride...

are there any normal people here?

I’m normaler, Mashby. If I’m not locked in my secret underground bunker by then, I’ll be sure to ride. Something normal. :D

"Normal", I'll take some of that. What are the chances though that by the weekend we'll be ordered to "shelter in place" as 7 million Bay Area folks have been just now   :? 8)

In the spirit of self-isolation, this ride is now cancelled. Sniff.

Seriously Ron, I don't think you're overreacting.

My (slightly Jameson's influenced) take on this bizarre science fiction movie that we're living in is that UFN we should not post group rides. That said, I'm flexibly (sp?) working from home and happy to receive ad hoc invitations for 2-3 to hit the trails (even hills) and into the fresh air - but not crazy long and technical - and not ending in shared coffee time..
