Winter Bike Stolen

Post by dreeves »

Hello TS

Yesterday my trusty winter bike was stolen from inside the loby of a building at 620 View Street. It was my fault, as I didn't lock it up. Ironically I was picking up a prize for my wife from the Bike to Work Week office on the 5th floor. When I got into the building I realized that my bike would not fit into the elevator and I didn't think huffing it up and down 5 flights in my cycling shoes would be too much fun.

Needless to say, someone scooped it within the 5-8 minutes that I was collecting the now, very expensive prize.

There is video of the guy stealing it and it is being sent to Vic PD. However, 400 eyes or so are better than only a few so I thought I'd post it here.

It is a Baby-Bird Blue Cannondale Optimo CX bike that I've had for many years. My first CX steed. It had 10 speed Durace-Ace and Look Keo pedals. Black handlebar tape and Gatorskin tires. A black Kona saddle. The attachement is the best picture I have, taken at the Kona Kup a few years ago when there was a bike-registration tent set up.

Thanks for any tips you may have and for keeping an eye out as you role through the city.

Cheers,

Dylan

Really sorry to hear this, Dylan.

Be sure to join The Stolen Bicycle Avengers Group on FB and post about your bike and its loss. I found my daughter's bike on that group page after it had a three-week adventure away from home; I even got to watch video of the police interception...

Also: I inserted your missing bike's characteristics into the Tripleshot Bicycle Image Search Engine® and found two more shots of what I think is the same bike (provided you were using it for TTTs back in 2009.) I'm sorry that neither shot is particularly stellar for identification:

p.s. Congratulations to your wife! :D

We used to just call that "Lister". When I started with the club I'd ask Lister who various people were after a ride and he'd reply:

"What kind of bike were they riding?"

To which I'd reply "Umm...a shiny blue one?"

From which Lister would then narrow it down to the most likely suspects.
