Wednesday, January 15 - SNOWcross!

Think you may have had enough of the snow come Wednesday? Time for a re-framing!
From Environment Canada this afternoon:
The second system will reach the south coast Tuesday evening and affect a more widespread area than the first, with snow is [sic
] expected for much of the night. Mainland arctic outflow winds reaching the eastern coast of Vancouver Island will create the potential for increased snowfall amounts locally.
Farm meet-up (6 a.m. Richmond at Richardson). Probably stick to South OB and Fairfield, coffee at Cook St. Moka. If
last year was any indication, MTB might be the way to go.
Don't forgot to wear your green snowsuit, Alan.

I'm a maybe.
A) I don't want to fall, get hurt, and ruin a fantastic Sunday ride
B) My bicycle will be entering an awkward Chrysalis phase on Wednesday...
And here's a bizarre, somewhat related GIF...

Today's ride in the white stuff was awesome.
I'll be there on Wednesday if I can get unstuck....

Time to sell the bike and take up Fortnite, Ron? Or perhaps macramé?
Falling in the snow doesn’t hurt! Just ask Alan... And the exquisite pleasure of fresh tracks does much to dull any lingering sting.

Can you get your mitts on a mountain bike? It feels much more stable.
We'll be going the pace of a light jog for much of the time...

With the knowledge that: 1) I'll be stuck at home (saving the planet), and 2) you'll be crossfrolicking in the snow, I send you all this,

Can't you give it a rest, JT? Nobody's listening to your Chicken Little routine anyway... except some Swedish teenager with an Anger Management problem.
And anyway, it's freakin' cold out there! So the planet's doing tremendously.

Rolf, do you forget our attempt at a snow-frolic at Uvic last year?

I'm planning to be there but must bear the following in mind:
1) I have to commute from far, far away so just getting there will be an adventure (L3: I know, I know...
)
1.1) must allocate extra time, like double the usual, and sleep/wake up accordingly
2) Falling on
snow-covered asphalt does hurt!
3) Frolicking in the snow is amazing and does nicely make up for #2 (I just have to only fall to the right tomorrow)

Ann, I know it can be super fun but there was also this: [url]

Take note - 7k, 40 mins.
But if I could be guaranteed the schools would be closed tmrw, I might make it out.

Yes, L3. I remember that horrible
attempt at a frozen Pkols. But that was a few days after the fresh snow, when everything was shaped by walkers and then refrozen in deadly forms. Even the
day right after the big dump was a bit tougher.
The
fresh snow day that preceded was golden. And conditions point to the same tomorrow!

Given the snow that's out there now and the forecast, is this an MTB-only day? (In which case I'll do something else since I don't have one.)

I'm gonna try and haul my butt out on my usual bike Todd... I suspect most of us will suffer together.

Depends on your interest/dedication/stubbornness levels. If they are high, head out there on your cx bike and if it's impassable before you get to the meeting spot, you'll have your answer! (This will be my approach.)

Ann, that is awesome. I got 93% and judging from how much has fallen just during my 90 minute walk with the kids and dog I think we might be in luck. Greg says he is absolutely going to ride tmrw but may not make it all the way down to the fabled Fairfield-land.
I'm eyeing my cross country skis right about now but my fat tires would be so much fun too!!!! I may need to do both!!!
Rolf - yeah that day after the big dump is the one I'm referring to. I missed the golden day due to not living in the aforementioned breadbasket of short rides home from coffee and convenient bike rides in the snow at BHP.
Have fun tmrw.

Falling will be just like a powder day on the ski hill, right?! I’m going to give this a try on my MTB. If I make it to the church, I’m in!
