The cedars green, the moss is green
The prettiest picture you've ever seen
Is Crossmas in Killarney
With all of the folks not home...
Well, we can all agree that
Bing does it best. But given the time of year and the fact that we have a Killarney Lake, it seems only appropriate to visit it on a Cross ride. I've been spying on a Bloomin' good rider and got inspired to put this route together:

At 65km it is not a short ride but not that long either and I've selected trails that that should be approachable and fun for all. The trails around Hartland are highly trafficked (according to Strava's Heatmap) and I think are more the access road variety (correct me if I'm wrong and I'll update the root).
Please reply if you are interested and if you need a special start time and/or pick-up. I'm good to leave between 6:30 and 7:30 as I'll be hangover free

The Hartland Road climb is a real slog on paved road. You might consider continuing down old sanich to Spartan and crossing over to Prospect Lake Road. Take that to Meadowbrook and then climb executive instead. The top of executive is a fire road. Turn right and that will take you to the bottom of skull trail which I believe is on your current map

I’m open to any start time. I’ll let others wiser than me determine that.

I'm most likely in for this, Fairbucks at what time? Got me some new, bigger rubber to try out!

Thanks for the tips Mike! I've updated the route with your suggestion.

I can’t tell where the rest of the route goes in the dump. But I know that area like the back of my hand so if it’s not rideable Or if there something more interesting, we can figure something out on the fly

I’m in. How about 730 am at Fairbucks?

Hmmm, 7:30 maximizes sleep but might mean a finish time that is too late for some. Let's wait to hear from a few more participants and then make the call.

7:00 at Fairbucks works for me. Ann, can you cut your sleep by 30 minutes?

This sounds so fun! Good route ideas, Ron, and you'll have an excellent Hartland guide in Mike so it'll be fun to see what he devises for y'all in there.
I'll be up for some more crossing goodness next week but tomorrow I'll just be sending my proxy. Steve says he'll be at Fairbucks for the 7:00 start-- although the route goes tantalizingly close to our house so there's a remote chance he'll connect with you a little north (Swan Lk area). I'll leave it to him to chime in otherwise, but for now it sounds like he's in.

Sounds good.
Mike, let’s keep the Hartland gnarl low as I want to keep the trails accessible and friendly for all.

Don’t hate me, but I’m switching groups for tomorrow! Rolf/Dolly’s route is more my kind of thing, plus I hear it’s Dolly’s birthday!

I can’t tell what decent you have chosen in the dump. If it is Dave’s line or south ridge you will show huge heat signatures but those descents could be challenging. We can talk at the time but I can think of fun non knarly alternatives. Im good with 7

Thanks Mike. Dave's line rings a bell. I'll check trailforks and update with something tamer but will take you up on your guidance.
