TS Members to Junior Worlds!

Tripleshot Members Sarah Van Dam and Riley Pickrell will be competing in Germany in Junior World Track Championships in a couple days. Last year, both went to Junior Worlds in Switzerland, and if memory serves both had top 10 finishes in their first year of eligibility as Juniors. They also put on a great slide show for us at the Christmas Party, to accompany tales of their Swiss adventures.

As I've mentioned before, track cycling lacks the massive sponsorships and big bucks from national sport agencies that other sports receive. Each of these kids was recently handed a bill by Cycling Canada for $3000+ for training to go to Worlds, and that doesn't even include their travel expenses, which they're also expected to pay out of pocket.

These are amazing young athletes and Tripleshot members. They'll have a lot on their minds as they line up to race in Germany. Let's ease the financial worries a bit so they can focus on their racing.

First results are in:

Sarah's team pursuit team has qualified fifth fastest, and race again shortly to get in the bronze medal final.

Riley's team pursuit team set a new Canadian record in qualifying. They rode the second ride without Riley as he had team sprint about the same time.

Riley's team sprint team also broke the Canadian record, qualifying 6th, heading into the second round.

In team sprint, Riley's team was 7th in second and that remains their position in the final standings.

Sarah's team ended up 5th, Riley's 6th.
