Big Loop Ride July 28
Posted: Tue Jul 09, 2019 7:42 pm
To all (adventurous) club members:
The July 28 date for the Tripleshot Cycling Club Big Loop Ride is approaching and preparations are underway.
Steve White has once again volunteered to generously support the ride by driving his Westfalia in advance of riders to provide food and refreshments at rest stops. HOWEVER, WE DO NEED A SWEEP VEHICLE AND DRIVER to ensure everyone is safe and hydrated. If you are willing to support the club and its activities by driving a sweep vehicle please post to this forum or send me a personal message.
For those members who are unfamiliar with the Big Loop Ride here is the general information:
We will have at least 2 support vehicles (assuming someone volunteers to drive a sweep vehicle). Food and refreshments will be supplied by the club and be in Steve White’s Westfalia. The other support vehicle would have water.
We will have spare wheels, a track pump, a bicycle rack and tools in the van.
Remember to take your own tubes, pumps and cartridges etc.
The route is approximately 250 kms in length with 2,500 meters of elevation gain. Victoria to Port Renfrew to Lake Cowichan, Duncan and Mill Bay. Depending on numbers, there should be two or three groups of riders.
We start at Alpha Street Starbucks at 6:00 a.m. Ferries to Brentwood Bay depart from Mill Bay at 4:10, 5:20 and 6:30. Most riders are on the 5:20 ferry.
A summary of the route is:
