Sunday January 6th

Mostly nonsense. Also riding bicycles inappropriate for off road terrain, off road; GIFs

I’m into a longer, slower, explore-y type ride. How about a reasonably-paced gravel ride with more mileage and less singletrack than our usual Sundays?

Most forests are pretty saturated. Here's one idea: urban connections north to Lochside, and straightlining it as far as Mt. Newton in Saanichton, then turning around and coming back creatively but smoothly as possible, eschewing slower, technical stuff in favour of flat gravel. Possible attractions: Centennial Park, Willow Way, Elk Lake etc. I'll try to map something tonight if I have time...

Other ideas?

I was thinking the same thing. How about taking the E&N to thetis and then try to make it to Willis Point through the Hartland bush? 7:30 at Fairbucks?

Today's report is that Hartland is one big river. South and North Thetis are also both criss-crossed with torrents. Which are fun! But I'd kind of like to dry my shoes out one of these days...

I'm all for dry feet. Also, are there any trails near the beginning of the great trail prior to the stupid hill?

We are with you in spirit - there is snorkelling here, it's just not done while on the bike. This is where we are headed tomorrow...

Lovely, Wonger. Enjoy that warm tarmac!

As for you snorkelers, here's an idea for today (or another day) to discuss shortly over porridge:

Thanks for the soggy expedition fellas. Next time we attempt Rolf's bog, I'm brining this:
