How to break training habits

Re: How to break training habits
Rolf Aldag has some good advice there; but this Rolf says you can meet all your Training Rut problems by simply switching the channel.
- Variety of effort (harder and easier)
- Variety of post-ride food & drink
- Variety of terrain ( intense climbs; ripping the flats; upper-body technical sections; grinding through sand; seated extended climbing etc.)
- Thinking in terms of exploration and discovery v. time and distance
- Riding with new, exciting (and much funnier) people
- Naturally occurring "rest-rides" where the point is the cycling experience v. strictly physical training
