Tripleshot Cycling

Hi all
Tripleshot will be holding its annual Backpack Ride on Friday, September 7th.

We have bought the ride forward to better assist the Mustard Seed in leaner times, so if you're new to the club, here's the drill:

Show up for the Friday September 7th ride wearing a backpack containing non-perishable food for the Mustard Seed food bank. We will have a vehicle on hand to collect all the food and deliver it to the Mustard Seed. The vehicle will be present at both the start and finish, though all you lovely people shall, of course, do the full ride wearing the heavy backpack especially if you want a decent workout.

Note that cheques made out to the Mustard Seed Street Church will also be accepted, but we cannot accept cash. You may also donate to the Mustard Seed through their website...if you do it this way, let me know, so that we keep rough track of the club's effort.

For the second year, we have challenged our friends in the Victoria Wheelers to see if they can match or even exceed the generosity of Tripleshot. They will be holding their backpack ride the following morning, September 8th , during the OBB Saturday Ride. Tripleshot members who are unable to make our Friday ride are welcome to show up to the OBB ride instead, and vice versa.

In one recent year Tripleshot pulled in 800lbs of donations...we'll need all hands on deck to beat that and the Wheelers...let's try!

Note that we'll meet at Cook Street Moka House for the post-backpack-ride coffee, as our usual coffee location is closed this week.

Can we meet at Starbucks instead? Moka isn’t that rider friendly.

Paul Christopher was going to warn the manager at Moka that we were coming. Given that, I think we should stick to plan. If they're unfriendly, we can move across the road.

They are happy we are coming...and we can even turn the heaters on.

Cook St. Moka was very helpful this morning, gave us a discount, and kept turning the heater on for us.

Hats off to all who participated, and especially to Heather and Dave Ranson for managing the pickup and delivery of goods. They've reported that we brought in 1139lbs of food, shattering our old record of 800lbs! Dave Dallin might have had the record for weight carried on the ride at 22Kg. More importantly, he gave me a sweet leadout in the final sprint.

Victoria Wheelers, consider the gauntlet thrown!

Just an update that Tripleshot financial donations to the Mustard Seed (online plus cheques) during our Backpack Ride fundraiser were $1665.



Heather said that when our canned goods were brought in last Friday she was told "This stuff will be delivered to families today." So, obviously the need is there and will be year round. If people still want to give, see the link above.
