Major congrats to Yvonne Mendel, Topaz neighbourhood mother of small children and the driving force behind this. She left me a message reminding me to send a letter of support and mention accommodations for cyclocross training and races in the final design. So stay involved and support some grass and cyclocross access between (hell, including!) the whoop-de-doos.
But I was conflicted on this one. The alternative proposal offered a disc golf course on the same terrain. DG is my other passion and remains a sport even more harried and maligned than cyclocross. There are precious few proper courses in our community and it's a fantastic way to get virtually anyone active outside—for the one-time entry fee of a $15 piece of plastic.
Survey results showed more interest in a disc golf course; I guess the Parks dept. had other considerations.
