Cruising to coffee on the Goose yesterday after a lovely Sunday ride, we had just passed a civilian when she smacked into one of those dastardly poles. She didn't seem too injured, but her bars were bent etc. Within seconds, our own Bicycle Repair Man, "Velofix Ritchie", sprang forward with a multi-tool and swiftly saved the day.
It brought to mind Bicycle Repair Man by Messrs. Python, which sees the lads all faking American accents and roasting those particularly Yank proclivities for bravado, apotheosis, and mindless superhero narratives. With all the exceptionalist chauvinism and fraud wafting northward over the past few days from the jingos currently in power, this essential sketch proves again that truly classic bits of culture resonate for decades.
