Going a bit longer with a bit more elevation. Out to Metchosin to the Canadian Masters race (or in my case, event!) course. The proposed route:
https://www.strava.com/routes/11990864
Usual start time and location, 7 AM from Discovery Coffee on Metchosin.
Should be a most beautiful to ride and climb.
Barton.

Barton!
Do you think there is a chance we'll be back in town by 11-ish? I'm heading to Duncan for soccer, and have to be there for 1:45 p.m.
See you dark, and early (for the last time this season!)

I think it will be after 11 for sure. You could always cut off the Prospect Lk part on the way home. That would cut about 30 minutes maybe a bit more.
Because of @&*@@%#&*( daylight saving time it'll be much darker next Saturday morning than this one! 4 weeks to get our morning daylight back.
See you early in the morning.
Barton.

Well now that was fun. However, I think I need more pickle to deal with the afternoon cramps. Orange juice (and just a little bit of Tequila) is not quite doing it! 6 brave souls left the coffee shop; 4 of us found a coffee shop at the end. 3 X around Rocky Pt, Liberty and Kangroo wasn't so bad. It was Prospect and Goward that did us in.
Mary, your picked a good time to head home! Good to see you out this morning and charging those hills!
Looking forward to hills on Monday!
Hey, does anyone know for sure how many laps of Rocky Liberty La Bonne Kangaroo it is for the Canadian Masters for us older folk in June? I think I might have it wrong.
Anyway, the plan is long and hilly, Long, more hills, a bit of speed work, repeat!!
Barton.

Hi Barton,
I am under the impression it will be 8 laps of roughly 10km for us "older" folk. The 50-59 group did 100km last year at Nationals, and the 60+ did 80km.
And don't forget, half the course is downhill!

I saw that also Eric. Maybe they made a mistake. Is it Russ Hayes that is organizing this event?

"No 50 to 59 in R.R.??.....really, should they even be allowed to race?
Not old enough yet for discounts at Value Village or
collecting CPP. ( 60+ )
But too old to dress like a hipster or race with really fast guys. ( 40+)
You 50 to 59 guys will be handing out waterbottles and snacks to Barton ,Jim W., Andrew N....and me. Thanks

Mmmm...just checked their website, and nothing’s changed. I’ll call tomorrow to find out what’s what.
Barton, you want more? Be careful what you wish for! (Although....despite the fact that I sucked, I really enjoyed the course).

Too bad you could not make it out this morning Mary to ride with us. It was long and steady but not as punishing as last week.
Next weekend I am going to do a Metchosin ride on Sunday, usual start time and start place as Saturday's. Out to Metchosin for more fun in the hills.
Barton.
