They ride against 8th place Poland next.

They ride against 5th place New Zealand next. This is a rematch of the gold medal final in Milton World Cup, when Canada was leading with 1 km to go. One rider crashed, and new Zealand got the gold. Accounts to square up.

Close until the last km, Canada went down to NZ, finishing 8th. Top 8 in the world ain't too shabby though.

The cdn women fared better, qualifying for the bronze medal final.

Took me a bit to check, but just confirmed that’s the best ever result for Canada in men’s team pursuit at worlds. Bravo Jay!

It took me a beat to realize this is Men's Elite, and no longer U-23 or Junior World's. This is it! The Big Kahunas! The Best Men in the World! etc. etc.

Applying the completely spurious and unsophisticated analysis of results against which nations are "traditional cycling powerhouses": in coming 8th, Canada's men beat the Belgians, the Americans, the Spanish, and the French.

Chapeau, Jay!
