Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good sources for training plans for prepping for something like, perhaps, a national masters road race?

I suspect the coaches will tell you that thats too broad a question- too many variables:
Age, Previous experience, time available to train etc. etc.
Also depends on your approach to training.
If you are looking for something generic, you can find them (for a fee) on Training peaks, or attached to software packages like sufferfest, Trainer Road, Zwift, etc.Sign up for a free month, or one month to check them out.
Or you can hire a coach :)
Google has a few, but its hard to judge if they are good for you....

I know it was a bit of a vague question. I am really just looking for general guidelines I can adapt to my situation [emoji6]

Start a training diary. Actually, I challenge you to a training diary duel. I have been meaning to do this for years. When you have a great ride (or a terrible one), you'll be able to look back at the previous week or two to see how you ate, slept and rode. Then repeat the good/best combo (food, sleep, riding) during your lead up to the race.

@JohnT That does sound like fun. How would the winner of such a training diary duel be judged?

By the ability to recite one's own diary in iambic pentameter while sprinting.

John: My Japanese is rusty, but I think Jeremy is paraphrasing Queen:

Jeremy: Your training should consist of riding 10km for every muffin you bake, and sprinting full out for 30 seconds every time you think of a muffin. You'll be in great shape by May ;)

Unless you've started, I am winning:

Tuesday Feb. 13.

Lunch: Chicken salad sandwich, Rumble and Bounty Bar.
Latte at 3:30 pm
5:20pm: Two laps of 10-Mile Point. Distance and average speed unknown. Felt great.
Dinner (7:25pm, anticipated): Beef meat pie (Slater's) and roasted veggies.
No alcohol. Nothing else to drink either
Bedtime: TBA
Notes to self: Drink more water and start measuring time and distance.

The Japanese haiku was seasoning cycling appropriate but does sound better in Japanese...
It translates to something like:
Turn to Spring,
I want to ride my bike
Is the way I feel
