Hi everyone,

The 3rd annual Mount Baker ride will be on the weekend of August 25-26 this year. This is an epic ride over 2 days and 350+ kms with 1 night in Glacier WA. We take the Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen ferry, ride through rolling pastoral scenery, majestic subalpine forest, up a huge mountain, and then to Anacortes WA to catch the ferry back to Victoria. It is awesome trip and definitely one of, if not the highlight of my cycling year in 2017. Garth, Paul O'Callaghan, Steve Lund and Kenji can confirm just how much fun it was too.
Last year we had a group of 6 which worked very well, and we already have 4 signed-up for 2018. Accommodation options are limited in Glacier and we will be booking a place soon, so please post here or email me at teachermantran@gmail.com if you are interested.

Thursday 1st. 8pm. I highly recommend this ride if you have not done it before. It was fantastic. There were six of us last year, all of equal (ish) standard.

Sorry for the date mix-up. I have corrected it in my previous post.

Hi everyone,

So the date is set and we have 11 riders signed up as well as a few other "maybes". All committed riders either have accommodation or are actively looking for a place to stay in Glacier where our base camp will be. There is no real limit to how many folks can come, but anyone who is planning on joining should make sure to find lodgings in Glacier. Airbnb is the best bet as there are no hotels in the area. If you are thinking of coming and have not let me know, please post here or email me at teachermantran@gmail.com.

After some discussion with our Mount Baker group, we have decided to cap the ride at 15 participants for this year. We wanted to keep the size of the group manageable for travel logistics, communication and safety on the road, and also to maintain the social/camaraderie aspect of the ride.

Epic-looking ride, folks! Regardless of whether or not you summited Baker, it remains impressive to have ridden that far in such trying conditions—and in such a scary foreign country.

Steve and I added a few more pics to the Mt Baker album. Hopefully some others will do likewise.
