Sat 28, There and Back Again

Post by barton bourassa »

With an eye on the weather (who said not to plan your riding by the weather forecast!?) Saturday looks like a lovely day to ride out to Mill Bay and back. Via the Malahat of course!

The route: https://www.strava.com/routes/11013863

Leaving Discovery Coffee on Menzies near Michigan at 7 AM sharp. We should be back in town well before noon.

Does anyone have any intel on the condition of the shoulders of the Malahat? One indication I have is the shoulders may be in rough shape. Has anyone ridden this recently?

Thanks,

Barton.

Haven’t ridden it Barton but drove down on Sunday. Southbound is a mess in parts. There are sections where there is literally no shoulder and significant pavement damage from construction. Be careful!

That's my impression exactly, Geoff. The ascent is fine, but the descent is....sketchy at best. I'd be hesitant to risk it.

Thanks John and Geoff.

Change of plans; riding the Peninsula instead.

The route: https://www.strava.com/routes/11016988

As usual leaving Discovery Coffee on Menzies near Michigan at 7 AM.

Typical C C+ pace.
