Wednesday Munnsy: hills + sunshine early in the morning

I'm planning to ride the ol' "TS Monday ride" on Wednesday, as per last year's tradition. I'm after a good steady pace so as to keep it to under 2hrs and be back in time to get the kiddies off to school. I'll be at Switch at 0600 and we'll be back in town before 0800 if all goes according to plan. Regroup at the top of the big Munns climb, but otherwise... steady is good.

I can't see a quick & easy link to past versions of this ride but it's about 60k: Goose to Interurban, Hastings, Granville/Charlston, Prospect, Munns, Ross-Durrance, Inter/W. Saanich, Prospect (to close the loop), Burnside, and return on the E&N trail (mostly).

The old TS Monday ride did not involve Munn(s). It was clockwise along the route you suggest, but stuck with Prospect, then Sparton, Oldfield, Brookleigh, Sayward, and back along the water—50K, with much less grunting and hating/loving? life than including Munn(s) and Ross Durrance.

The main TS page still has a link to the old Monday.

Your ride (60K including some decent altitude) sounds like a much more sweaty affair to complete inside of two hours. But that's kinda your speed, Claire-bear. :P

I suspect this is the map Claire's looking for. She probably dropped me somewhere along this ride last summer. ;)

I take exception to this undeserved reputation for dropping people (Alan the Duck Slayer comes to mind as a frequent accuser). Let me assure you, I have been the droppee far more often than the dropper.

(Maybe you're conflating me and Lisa...)

Regardless, I take your replies to be confirmation of your attendance this Wednesday. Which is good cause I don't like riding alone. See you soon!

Details, details... Okay, it's not *quite* the Monday route that never happened, but it was born out of a love for hills and boredom of repeats in Caddy Bay. A mash-up of sorts. I actually credit Lisa for the route and day ideas back when we started this.

Last Wednesday I was passed by a grand total of 18 cars from when I got on Prospect until I hit Wallace. Not bad. Should be fun tomorrow. Join me!

Hey, who's up for an early morning kick ass hill workout? I'll be at the switch bridge at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow for the reinstated Wednesday Munn Road hill ride.

Don't make me do that hard ride alone, although it might be more relaxed if I do! Hope to see you there. Lisa

Going to visit some friends (hills) with friends (hill lovers) again tomorrow. I think I roped in a few more after this morning's ride, while the post-ride euphoria was still running high.

The pace is fairly quick (A2-like) with a regrouping at the top of Munns and possibly one more if needed after the descent.

Meet at Switch Bridge at 6 and we're back in town (any part) before 8. How much before depends on how the pace goes...

Same routine tomorrow. Last week we hit an all-time high of ten peeps. It was hard. And fun!
Switch Bridge at 0600. Rolling out no later than 6:03. Punctuality is a virtue.

Oh, good - some participants. I was about to post my sad "I have to work so can't do the ride this week" update so I'll say that but also that I hope to come out next Wednesday and for as many more as there are before it's too wet and/or dark to keep going. As it is, front and rear lights are needed for the start of the ride, but as long as it's light for the twisty, forested parts, I say we soldier on.

Have fun tomorrow!
