Dolly and I showed up in loose-fitting clothes and had a coffee while 10 guys in toques rode away. I didn't see you among them.

Hope you enjoyed your sleep-in; I know I did.

Tuesday's forecast is -16 with the windchill. Yeehaa.

I'm walking down that same road as Eric. My excuse - that wind kept waking me up. At 6:30 am I was ready for bed.

But I am sitting here looking out at that bright sun and feeling a little wimpy. Nicholas (it's a German thing) brought me ROAD, so I am armchairng it today.

Between you and Chris Fraser, I'm just discovering the world of weather. (Chris said Saturday north easters with wind at midday mean sun and cold...or something. So how's that work Eric? Drying up moisture that might have frozen? Just curious.

Sorry i wasn't there to "enjoy the ride" with you Sunday but I am looking forward to tomorrow as a record breaking cold weather ride. The forecast has some wind but it should be dry again.
I'm no weather expert but generally the wind has a drying effect and as long as it's blowing there will be no dew or frost. I learned that on the farm.
In addition, the current weather pattern is particularily safe as the north east wind is an outflow of cold and dry air - as opposed to a westerly which carries much more moisture from the pacific. This arctic air has a very low humidity at about 25-30%. This gives us a dew point of minus 10-14. Unless there is a major system frontal change overnight we are safe to ride tomorrow AM at minus 4 and not worry about frost.
If you go to The Weather Network and click on "last 24 hours" you see the temperature to dewpoint spread. Tonight you'll see that the humidity is actually rising and the spread is narrowing; but I think we will be OK in the morning.
Contrast all this to a morning with a temp of plus 1, humidity of 96%, dewpoint of zero and chance for frost everywhere.
Anyone who's still with me should notice the "Weather Now" link on the front page of the TSC site - it's the one Roland did which shows current conditions from the school based weather site laid over a city google map. Click one the dots to get wind, rain and humidity. Very nice work Roland.
Hope to be there in the morning - no eggnog for me tonight.
