Up to that point Rolf I also thought it was a great article for the Economist. Then again, it is the Economist!
My favorite line is the three kinds of cyclists; "...three types of riders: those who have crashed, those who are crashing and those who will crash!". I was able to identify with the first half of the article so well.

A good article for sure. Very relatable for all us MAMILs. I was just glad, while reading it, that my wife rides with me, and has nicer bike than me, so I don't have to buy all black bikes.

I liked the line, "racing against your peers gets harder as you get older, because of a selection bias that means anyone who still remains will be deadly serious." A couple of names jump to my mind.
