BC Cyclocross Provincial Championships

BC Cyclocross Provincial Championships were in Mahon park in North Vancouver. The race organizers used every available square inch of the park. The course had almost no straight sections, it was all corners. Wide sweeping corners, so most of the course you could keep your speed up. There were muddy sections, but other than one corner, it wasn't too bad.
There weather was a lot better than Saturday, cool but no rain, and there was a good turnout of riders from the island. I was racing masters 30-39 and the masters 40-49 were starting a minute behind us.
Looking at the other riders at the start line, these guys looked like serious athletes. I figured I was in over my head. The start was fast, and I was on the fourth row. I had no chance to make up any positions. I got caught behind some non technical riders and the lead pack was gone 30 seconds into the race. I had no chance to stay with them anyway. I settled in somewhere mid pack and had a good battle with a few of the Vancouver riders, one who I'd also been battling on Saturday. They get away from me on the running sections, I'd get it back on the technical sections. It went back and forth.
3 or 4 laps in, the lead masters 40-49 started catching me. I tried to use them to pull me back up to the lead 30s, a good plan but it didn't work. On the final lap, I got passed and on my attempt to repass in a corner I crashed. By the time I got up he was gone. Oh well, it was a fun race. No idea how I finished. I'll post result when I get them.
