my very own gloating thread :D

Post by Josh.E »

Pretty good hills turnout this morning, actually. Quite a few people were talking about doing the holiday ride as well.
Then after all the talk, I get completely abandoned by everyone from the hills ride as soon as they feel the warmth of the coffee shop.
I'm sick too, what's your excuse??
WEAK!!!! Hang your heads in shame.

Maybe Peter (wasn't he talking about doing both, I heard?) had some trouble counting the number of rides he was supposed to do today... Just a guess. Maybe there should be negative gloating points for people who promise to go on a ride, then don't show? If I hadn't been struck down by an evil micro-organism, I would certainly have come on both rides with you this morning, Josh! Both of them! The first one, and the second one!

I think if you go back and read through Peter's posts, he never actually said he'd be there. Instead he says things like "both rides, that sounds awesome" It's a clever tactic, really.

WEAK? Not us. After you left with the late-sleepers, we did hills again :!:

Josh, you missed out on some gloating points this morning ;) It was definitely one of *those* days, which was reflected by us sitting INSIDE!!!

i know

I gave in to the sickness this morning. Hopefully the sleep is going to be enough for me to get rid of whatever's been nagging me the last week. I'll be there on sunday.

Oh no  Hope it's not the flu. I think we're up to 4 in the F team - have to check with the Count though.

Its been about 8 days now, but it's been pretty low grade, whatever it is. Just enough to take that last 10 or 15% out of my top end. I was hoping the rest day would help me kick it, but I did 5 tolmie repeats this morning, and I'm better, but still definitely not 100%.
Oh well :)

Katie told me that a girl who is one of the better cyclocross racers is still feeling the effects of the flu which she had a month ago. It can take a long time to fully recover, but I'm sure by doing 5 tolmie repeats you're showing the bugs who the boss is! 8)

Sorry you felt abandoned last week, Josh. I'd think of it more as having been one more chance to train harder than anyone else.

5 Tolmies while sick -- that is either tough, or stupid, or both. I've had glands the size of golf balls since hills last week. Every time I think I'm getting better, a new flavour of plague seems to come along. So I just sit around watching my already skinny thighs waste away and trying to ignore snot that resembles nuclear waste on The Simpsons.

Based on yesterdays ride, I would say Josh is feeling just fine.

I don't know about tough, Rolf, but noone's ever accused me of being smart.

I was feeling much better by sundays ride though. Norm was saying Sunday he just came off 9 days off the bike due to flu. Hopefully you start feeling better soon.

Rolf, I'd be glad to have a good excuse of not going riding tomorrow morning! (Hope you'll get better soon though, so that we'll have more people to share the excess humidity with.)

Could we please triple the winter gloating points for tomorrow? Looking out of my window  , I think I may need some incentive to get out of my warm bed!

Just had to comment and ask whether Thursday dark ugly wet afternoon conditions get to count for winter gloating. I am seriously procrastinating about getting dressed to commute home. I guess I am due--no a.m. ride for me tomorrow--off to Nanaimo, and not by bike.
