Used bike advice?

Family of four and I'd like to outfit the other 3 with road bikes to join me on mine (for family weekend rides to start). They're all keen. And beginners wrt to road bikes. What sort of price range should I look to pay for the following?
Adult female road bike
14 yrs youth road bike - male
11 yrs youth road bike - female
Don't want to spend a ton if they end up not enjoying it, but also enough that the bike(s) aren't clunkers. I was thinking $500 for the youth bikes and $750 for the adult. Am I in the right ballpark?
I've been watching the classifieds but not seeing much come through in that range.
