June 1 VCL.

Bravo Tripleshot at the VCL at Caleb tonight. In c's, Megan attacked in the 3rd of 8 laps, and Parker and Trevor, riding very well in the group, in their second Caleb ever, tried to respond, but couldnt quite hold her wheel. Simon from o2 bridged and they stayed away. Simon attacked a few times, but Megan pulled him back, but couldn't get away, and finished about 2 lengths down in the sprint. Trevor and Parker chased hard the rest of the race, Parker trying an attack with 500 m to go. Wiley Trevor held on until Parker ran out of gas 100 m from the line, and won the sprint. Huge huge improvements.

In b's, it looks like the attacking drills are starting to work. There were several attacks in pairs, until Nck and Ethan got away. After abojt 2 1/2 laps, Nick cramped and dropped back to the bunch (got 4th or 5th in the end) but Ethan decided to keep it going.

About then the b's passed my group in the c race, and Adam was having an energetic pull on the front. But it seemed like half the group was TS riders warning Adam that Ethan was still away, and they should leave the chase to others. Nice to see TS adult riders joining in to help.

The TS riders continued to watch the front and limit the chase efforts. Apparently there was some frustration among others, but the gap was up to 25 seconds with 2 laps to go. The frustration apparently fueled the chasers, and at the bell the gap was only 10 seconds. Sarah said they tried soft pedalling the front through the last corner with Ethan only 100 metres off the front. It looked like he would be caught on the infamous roller coaster downhill into the sprint hill, but Ethan gritted his teeth, the gods of the solo break smiled, and he got the win by maybe 2 seconds. Charging up behind him was a rider in a black jersey, drifting to the right, when suddenly Adam burst through, yelling as he came, between black jersey and the finish line tent, stealing 2nd from under his nose. Official Ian said Adam had maybe 2" of pavement left. Threading the needle 2.0.

In the A's, Victoria's top two elite mens teams had to gang up to contain Riley. Before the race russ hays warned him (pleasantly but not without meaning) they'd gang up if he sat in. A break of three eventually went, with two Russ hays and an oak bay, and no one would help Riley chase, until he convinced an oak bay rider his team mate was outnumbered in the break and he should help. (Beating them AND teaching them...). Just enough help to bring it back, and Riley had enough left over to take second in the bunch sprint.

Very very impressive and a good omen for provincials all the way round.

We might need to split the TS youth team in two to make the race a little harder. Anyone got 4 or 5 lightweight armbands we could disignate a second team?
