Usual start place, Fairfield Starbucks.
Usual start time, 7 AM
The proposed route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3994665 The bit down East Sooke Rd ends at Pike, the entrance to the west end of East Sooke Park.
I won't be riding at all this weekend. Very strange. Can't remember the last time I did not spend at least 4 hours in the saddle on a weekend!
Anyway, have fun and take care of each other!
Barton.

Sunday April 17 LSD

Re: Sunday April 17 LSD
Woke up at 5:30, sick as a dog, swallowed some drugs and headed back to bed. Looked out the window at 8:30 (!) and realized I had missed what was likely a gorgeous ride. See you next week (hopefully).

Missed you Mary, hope you are feeling better. Small group today. First we lost Mark with technical issues, then Roxanne decided to go it on her own as she did not like our all over the place pace (slow, fast, slow, fast). In the end it was just Steve, Alan and myself for coffee. (Alan bought the coffee and Steve the food, so they are off the hook for buying for the next while.)

Thanks to the Long Slow Ride group for your help this morning. After I left the group I rode the Galloping Goose to Victoria and then I carried on up to Island View Rd. Turned around and on the way back met Eric Guillemot. We then rode back to Victoria and around the water to Oak Bay(103K). I am none the worse for my two falls.

Did I not say, right from the get-go, that it was going to be an LSD/sufferfest hybrid?sailor wrote:she did not like our all over the place pace (slow, fast, slow, fast)
Re: Sunday April 17 LSD
I believe it's formally known as a "discomfort-fest".

Yes Steve, I distinctly remember you saying that!
Re: Sunday April 17 LSD
Mark's chain slipped off twice as he was climbing, causing what we call on the Long Slow Barton ride, an LSF (Long Slow Fall). Not really a crash, per se, just falling over, when the bike refuses to go forward and gravity says: "I know what this guy needs."
My highlight of the ride was the chocolate-covered Advil that Roxanne gave me. Definitely a step forward in keeping the demons of pain away.
