My friend Mark Laver is an incredibly talented painter and he's having an art sale to fund building a studio in his house.
If you haven't seen his work in galleries, you can check them out here:

His "rural disasters" might not be for everyone's taste (I personally like paintings of burning trailers and twisted cars) but his nightscapes and landscapes will be very familiar territory for anyone who lives or rides a bike through Oak Bay and Fairfield --you'll certainly see scenes you recognize.
Lynda has one of his paintings hanging in her office and I've just put dibs on two more.
You might recognize these scenes, the little rural road that runs beside Paula's house, called "Maddison Lane Oak Grove, last light."
or the one called "Road to Beacon Hill, Last Light"
