I am very much looking forward to this. Are you aiming for a "C-Group Average Speed: 26-28 km/h" including the times when we will have to stop at the controls? That will make it hard for me but I will do my best if I may join you....
Mikael
PS. are you both planning on the regular Sunday "Barton's Ride" as well? I would like to ride it but I am worried that Rolf might try to make it into a drop ride (cf. his ride today)

Mikael asked "Are you aiming for a "C-Group Average Speed: 26-28 km/h" including the times when we will have to stop at the controls? That will make it hard for me but I will do my best if I may join you...." I will be very happy to ride at a "C" pace with you Mikael and Barton. However, an average speed of 26-28 km/h including stops will be a challenge.
For those who have asked about controls - there will be 4 stops where food can be purchased.
I have provide approximate times riders will arrive at controls as there is a possibility a CHEK TV camara/reporter crew may be on route or at a control to record our Chilli ride.
Control 1 at 66.3k Shell Station at Falmouth/Quadra. Riders should arrive between 9-10:30am
Control 2 at 83.7k Shell Station at Mt Newton Cross Rd. Riders should arrive between 10-noon
Control 3 at 113k Shell Station on Oak Bay Avenue. Riders should arrive between 11am-2pm
Control 4 at 155k Sidney - your choice. Riders should arrive between noon-4pm

As for pace I thinking, just ride! I would imagine we might average 25 k/hr when all is said and done. Looking forward to riding with Mark and Mikael and anyone else that would like to join us.
Barton.

Well now, that was interesting! Woke up, got outta bed, dragged a comb across my head, headed out to the start of this silliness!! Mark, Mikael and I headed off. Within 10K Mark had a flat. And off we went again. by 40 - 50 K I thought, "What is the shortest way home?". I was concerned about the next 150 so I just tucked in behind Mikael the younger and Mark the elder for the next 20K then Mikael took over the pulling to the 150 K point at which time he began to fade and the fried chicken from the Sydney 7Eleven kicked in for me. We all took turns pulling again and carried each other to the end.
You know, 100K is long, 200K is longer, way longer!! My legs are shredded and shaking but I am so glad I did this and that I finished. It was absolutely fabulous riding with Mikael and Mark.
Barton.

Kudos, Mark, Barton and Mikael! That's a huge ride. You must feel a great sense of accomplishment. Certainly longer than anything I've ever tackled. Although with the fried chicken lure... maybe one day I'll consider it.
