Cycling BC Awards - VOTE FOR US!!!

Post by Plawless »

I think that for what is, as far as Cycling BC is concerned, a first year club we friking ROCK!

We have over 30 members and a super active Forum. We ran 2 kick ass races including a TTT that was THE highlight of the racing season. We had Kim get on the Podium and placed 4 guys in the top 10 of the season long points competition. We won 10 races!!!!

Beyond racing we started a B group and now have a bunch of new people with us. We continue to have a fantastic "no drop" policy and are far and away the best at having coffee.

SO.... lets get the vote out. Vote LOTS! Go to:

http://www.cyclingbc.net/itoolkit.asp?p ... M_OR_TRACK

and vote for Tripleshot Cycling for Road/Track Club of the Year!!!!

For road volunteer of the year, vote for Norm

PS: write me in for road cyclist of the year. I won newton heights twice and came 3rd in a cyclocross race.

Norm's great, but I think Pete has had a bigger effect for most of us, and for fundraising through Nanimo to Victoria. Tripleshot is a unique club; in 17 years of living here no club I'm aware of has ever raised the performance bar, welcomed newcomers and organized it's rides, like TS. It takes great members, but it also take someone to do the stuff like make the kit happen, affiliate the club, articulate the ride rules in a definite but not bossy way, keeping it fun, but also a challenge. Peter's done all that and more and I think that's worth a vote on the Cycling BC website.

I already put my vote in for Norm so I'm blocked from adding Pete too. So instead I put Pete down for Coach of the Year:

"Volunteer" is probably more accurate generally speaking, but I've benefited from his very subtle and supportive coaching, too.

Yeah, that's right. I said "subtle and supportive" -- as in:

Well, once you accept that you're a 'quitter' (if you leave coffee before 9:00 am), what's a little more abuse? ;)

Done and done, Roland I don't know your last name so I couldn't vote for you, I voted Pete for coach of the year even though he yelled quitter at me just this morning, but that has only motivated me so stay at coffee until 10:30 - 11:00 on friday morning. Now thats good coaching;)

Its Roland Rabien and that is a good idea actually. He suffered his way around all sorts of courses, won twice, and was remarkably consistent.

On the "coach" thing as nice as it sounds I am not eligible. In terms of Volunteer as suggested by Lister, while it is flattering, I think that our club rocks because of all of us and it is not "right" to single 1 out for the work of many. We have a full executive doing lots behind the scenes (6 people - Lister, Sarah, Kim, Dylan, Rob, me) plus loads of others helping out such as Ramsey for Gear, Roland for Gear, Galen for webstuff, Rolf for Waivers, Various race marshalls, Jeff for the Early Bus Shirts, Several of our Doctors for emergency medical care (Alec, Eric, Dolly, Chris)!, Dave S & Mike L for loaning out gear in the blink of an eye, various people for hospital visits, Kim & Joe for race organization...... really the list is too long. (I am now FREAKING OUT that I have forgotten an important contribution - and I am sure that i have. But all of that goes to say that it is a group/team effort that makes us phenomenal so Vote for us a CLUB.

Nice speech, but it still takes a leader. Vote for both!
