I'm tied up with family this weekend, but wanted to put in a word for the event. Last year's was up in numbers from previous editions, testament to the pleasant rolling roads and good organization. Sidney Velo know how to do a TT, as you know if you've ever been to the Tuesday night events. http://sidneyvelo.ca/time-trial-details/

Re tech details, the 20 km ITT is first, so if you're keen on both events, you get a rest while the 40 km folks are out riding, then the TTT after. Or just do one of the three. Very pleasant patio (with restaurant if needed) for awards after at the golf course club house. Definitely a notch above most parking lot presentation locations. http://www.duncanmeadows.com/index.php? ... &Itemid=87

While a fun day on it's own, the course puts you close to the Cowichan River, including the beautiful Marie Canyon, spectacular for hiking or tubing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKFcbNM89MA Might be useful for negotiating with family? :)

Tubing is $15, last departure 4:00 pm. Takes 2-2.5 hours. Book tubes (includes a shuttle back) here. http://www.cowichanriver.com/ Call if you want to start after 1:00 (deadline for online bookings.) You can even freelance it; I floated part way down one year with my kids in life jackets.

There are also nice beaches on Lake Cowichan http://www.bclocalnews.com/lifestyles/t ... obile=true

Or the foodie destination of Cowichan Bay on the way home. What could be better than a bike ride, a dip, and artisan comestibles after? http://www.cowichanbay.com/

Damn. Wish I could go. :(

Hi Neil,

Sadly I won't be able to join you on July 5th due to my crash last Saturday. Looking forward to your 2015 TTT report.

Hi Neil,

You might have to ask Steve L. for the details ( including photos ) of the accident. it was a touch of wheels out near Sidney on the Sufferfest and the only thing I remember is my front wheel being at 45 degrees to the direction I was travelling. It was a big ouch ( broken clavicle, displaced ribs, helmet cracked in quite a few places and neatly arranged road rash ). Hope to see you at coffee some day soon. Safe cycling!

Is anyone driving up to this that may be able to put an extra bike and myself on board?
