Alpine Training Camp - Hurricane Ridge

How does a slow hill climber train for a week long 900 km event with 23,500 metres of climbing? I don't know but I came up with the idea of hosting and participating in an alpine training camp which basically consists of camping at Dungeness spit (altitude would be better) in my Westfalia (site 49 overlooking the water) and doing Hurricane Ridge repeats. The itinerary is:

Day1 (Saturday, June 27): Take the 6:10 am Coho ferry, park at the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Centre and do 2 repeats (110 km, 3000 metres.) Pick-up supplies.
Day2: Ride from Dungeness spit and do 2 repeats (160 km, 3200 metres)
Day3: Ride or drive from Dungeness spit to the Visitor Centre and do 2 repeats (160 or 110 km) and pick-up Nancy at 4:45 pm.
Day4: Ride from Dungeness spit and do 2 repeats (160 km, 3200 metres)
Day5 (July 1): Drive from Dungeness spit to the Visitor Centre and do 1 or 2 repeats (110 km); if 1 go to Sol Duc for a soak; take the 5:20 Coho to Victoria.

I think I'll see some club members on July 1 but if you are interested in more, send me a pm. For example, there is lots of room on site 49 for a tent or two and I could pick up anyone else up with Nancy on June 29, or if you are feeling ambitious come over with me on June 27. The Westfalia should be available as a service vehicle on July 1 if you are coming over for the Canada Day ride.

You're going to have a very special relationship with that road by the end of the week, Marcus. Have fun!
