Hi Barton,

Thanks for the hilly, winding route for the first 75ish km. I hope the wind didn't knock you off Land's End .... man it was windy at the lagoon at 7:30! I escorted our new friend from Stanwood, Washington back to the Empress ..... I'm pretty sure he enjoyed the ride and earned his lunch. I invited him to join us on a 6am ride any time he is back in Canada but he just looked at me funny.

Yup, got in the rest of the distance. At one point near 90 K I really thought of packing it in! But I kept going. Did the 2nd half quicker than the first half by 2 minutes with only a little less elevation gain. I really dug in and pushed hard from Lands End down West Saanich. There are a lot of crazy rollers and hills on that road! 153 K and just a few meters shy of 1,500 m elevation.

I am sure that some Saturday between now and July there will be no wind and I will have company for the whole ride!

It was good meeting James. I hope you gave a good run for his time on the way back. I know he was itching to pick up the pace!
