We've been talking about it for awhile and it is now here, a Tripleshot Women's Ride starting Thursday March 12th!!
The Women's Cycling Clinic has been super popular and through it a lot of women haven gotten into road riding. A number of women have said they would be interested in doing some more group riding, and this no-drop Women's Ride is to meet that need. You do NOT have to have been a part of the women's cycling clinic to be a part of this ride!
Since we are Tripleshot, it is an early morning ride with coffee at the end of the ride for those can.
We will meet weekly at 6 am on Thursdays at Pareto's (the parking lot at Pareto Logic on Foul Bay near the corner of Richmond). It is a no-drop ride and we will ride about 25-30km and then end at a coffee shop, for those who are able to stay for coffee.
Lights are likely needed (again
), and if it is raining (fingers crossed, no rain) fenders are required.

Sadly no helpful suggestions. Hoping for something more central than James Bay though ... See you tomorrow!

We figured out a good route the other day. It will be about 25 km. And we can add to it or take away depending on what the group wants. For the first ride, we thought ending at Discovery on Oak Bay Avenue would be good as the coffee is good and it is somewhat Central - good for folks who need to head downtown or those who need to head up to the University.
We can always change it if that doesn't work out for most of the riders.

Perfect locale to wrap up the ride (and less than a minute from my house!). See you at six!

Thanks to Paula and Kristen for organizing what turned out to be a great ride this morning (and to Amy for the coffee). See you next Thursday, dark and early!

My wife hopes to join this ride soon. She wondering if its mandatory to have a road bike - she has a hybrid right now.
PS: She's also wondering what the route was?

Nine women turned out for Tripleshot's First Women's Ride!!
We had some new riders to Tripleshot and some ol' time Tripleshoters (I tried to convince Jen to get out of bed for it, to no avail.. maybe public shaming will work).
The big talk on the ride was about the women's cycling clinic that will run again this year. It will start April 13 and go to June 8 . Registration will be up shortly, so keep your eyes on the forum as it fills up quickly.

Hey Doug, I sent you a PM to better answer your question, but I thought I would also address in it in general here in case others have the same question.
This year will be the 4th year of the women's cycling clinic. Women from the cycling clinics in previous years have expressed the desire to keep on riding in groups, but they weren't ready for riding with the regular Tripleshot rides. This ride is to help meet that need.
On the ride this morning, everyone was on road bikes and we were averaging about 25 km/hr. We are a no drop ride. If your wife has a hybrid with skinny tires and feels comfortable riding with others, come on along. If she hasn't done any group riding, it might be a good idea to start with the women's clinic as we aren't teaching group riding skills on this ride.
