Anywone racing tomorrow? There's some form of party afterwards. Poste a note if you're going and/or riding out.

I don't think it's a bad ride out. Up to Sayward perhaps, over the highway, behind Elk Lake, and then up Wallace (or something like that). The regular Sunday ride might be too early. Is there a coffee shop out there? Might be good to join the regular ride and then hang out for an hour before the race. I don't really know. Maybe I'll just drive out with family. I'll write again later when I get some more info.

Here's a plan: The regular Sunday ride stops for a break at the Red Barn instead of jamming in the Interurban sprint. After coffee #2 we ride to the Willis Point sign-up. I think the timing will work out well. A great way for everyone to make up for their absence last Wednesday!
Heidi and the kids will probably drive out to watch or join the party afterwards and the van has room for up to three additional people. So there's the option of a drive home.

Dave and I began the day with the regular Sunday crowd (Fairfield Starbucks at 7 am). We all skipped the Island View hill and headed toward Willis Point Road. There was some support for the idea of riding to the race start and a few people even made the right turn off Wallace. But, the decision to stop for coffee at the Red Barn first was the begining of the end. Though no one admitted it, I think the idea of an Interurban sprint sans the Lawless brothers motivated the Dave and John abandonment. No worries, our numbers grew, with Joe, Kim and Josh meeting us at the sign-in.
Results, short and sweet: Triple Shot won the men's B race AND the women's race. Josh and Kim were the stars of the show. It should come as no surprise really. Josh has ridden to the Mt. Washington and Silver Star ski resorts several times each in the last month. Today must have seemed trivial. Kim kicked butt on Mt. Doug only one week ago. I was third and Dave scored a point for 10th. Dave didn't get caught by Josh, who started 1 min behind. Given Josh's form that's something to celebrate.
The course was great. Smooth surface, and very few cars. It was 2.5 m long, steep for about 50 meters, a short flat section (even a little downhill), then a fairly long steep section, followed by a Cadboro Hill-like 400m sprint. Our Wednesday rides are perfect training for it. The after-race rendezvous is something we should mark on our calendars next year. A super way to end the season. Thanks to everyone who was involved in booking the venue and providing food and drink.
The points: The win moves Josh into 10th overall, one of four Triple Shot riders in the top-ten. Third place moved me two positions up the standings to fourth. Tragically, the two people I leap-frogged over were Triple Shot riders Roland and Peter. I dont know if I'll be able to sleep tonight. Dave rode up with a full water bottle - he was feeling guilty about his 9 lb bike. I am sure that cost him 8th or 9th. Lister, you need to talk to that man. Kim beat most of the B men and some of the A men. Great work everyone. Good to see Derick Trip at a race again. He beat us all at the first few races of 2009.
