Restoring/Upgrading old and current kit

I've been in touch recently with Will Chung, customer service rep with Champion Systems re getting replacement chamois pads. We have agreed that since nobody is supplying replacement pads, this either represents an enormous untapped market, or - there is no market? That's where you come in. Here's the deal: Champion will sell us the Italian-made CS-Performance Pad (
http://champ-sys.com/custom/pages/chamois ) on a volume sliding scale - if we order 51 or more as a club we can get the price from $19 down to $15 per unit. Boys and girls versions, one size fits all - trim to fit.
If you're like me you may have some heritage kit bibs (Baby blues, Spinnaker Racing, etc.) that are in good shape but the chamois was either inadequate to start with or is pretty worn. I intend to just put the new over the old and enjoy the extra padding - beats wearing two pairs of shorts on long rides!
So who's in? If we get adequate numbers this item will go up on the gear order site. Do we have a market here?

For those of you who missed my, um...rant, tirade, or whatever the heck it was before this morning's ride (and for which I later apologized to Mike), this is simply not an idea that I can get behind, nor one that I think the club should support.
Tripleshot derives a significant amount of its operating funds from sponsors who pay us good money to have their logos featured on our kit. So, in fairness to our current sponsors, the club should not be offering its members a way to extend the life of outdated kit designs, especially any that feature logos from former sponsors.
My two cents.

I'm with John on this one. The club cant do this and cant allow it to go on the gear order site. That really would be unfair to our current (amazing, awesome, classy, soon to renew...) sponsors.
Obviously anyone can order whatever they want on their own although I might question how a chamois wears out without the lycra doing the same - allowing all of us to see a lot more of a person that anyone wants too.... I still have nightmares about riding behind Chris F. one tortuous Tuesday where the angle of the sun and the thinness of the material ....<shudder>. 'k, I gotta go...

...I guess that's what you call consumer research. Message received, loud and clear!
Some comments in response: needless to say, I was not thinking of our sponsors and did not intend a disservice when I proposed this. It just wasn't on my radar, for several reasons: First, we're talking about shorts here, where comfort is the name of the game. And apart from the short-lived Spinnakers Racing sponsorship, there just ain't much advertising on our shorts; it's the jersey that acts as the rolling billboard. Second, since comfort is #1, a number of TS riders choose non-TS shorts as a matter of personal preference. Third, we're not just talking heritage kit - some of you may want to upgrade your TS-current style bib shorts. I've been disappointed with Champion's Endurance chamois, as it seems to consist of multiple loose pieces of foam that wander and bunch, resulting in a post-laundry game of poke and prod to orient things for a ride. The 4-way elastic Performance chamois (or two of them layered for endurance?) looks to be a possible solution.
So, obviously since this will not be going forward as a kit order. If the chamois idea appeals to anyone for the, uh, hopefully defensible reasons above, perhaps they could PM me.
Cheers

Yes, Mike L.
this reminds me of the Farm team ride awhile a go when I asked Rolf at the end how his ride was....and he said. " It was great ,except for looking at "the middle, vertical part of your rear" for alot of the ride.
Yes the Lycra wears out before the pad.
And I like the Endura chamois. Check with Lister. I hear leather was pretty good for a few decades. Try it.
Another solution may be.......
Have you heard of Butt Butter? Any secret recipies?
ride on. pc
