Tire Pressure?

Post by agoraphobic cyclist »

Some I've talked to think that a lot of people run higher tire pressure than is needed. IE: 100+ for someone weighing 140-150. Talking road, not cross...

Are there guidelines of some sort? Does it impact rolling resistance, like tire size does?

Depends on type, brand and width of tire. Also some people ride "heavy" meaning they ride over anything and may throw in the occasional bunny hop. Unless you are over 180lbs a good starting point is 100psi for 23c road tire. Go up for resistance to pinch flats or down for a more supple ride or possibly improved rolling resistance.
