You won't find a better youth coaching and racing experience than this weekend. The three-day format start with a technical tt clinmic and race in north saanich friday 4:30-7, a day of track clinics and modified races Saturday, then a clinic and racing at Windsor park on the course closed for the VCL.
Coaches are lead by Olympic coach and FastTrack lead coach Kurt Innes, and inlcude CSI Pacific and provincial coach Jeff Ain, coaches from the Devo club in Vancouver, and many more.
Great drawprizes too. Tripleshot riders have won bikes, helmets and oakley sunglasses in previous years.
Interested riders from 10-17, from beginner to two years of racing are still welcome.
http://www.amydf.org. Entry interludes coaching, races, track bike rental, Friday picnic dinner, Saturday picnic lunch.
Volunteer opportunites too:
So far we have:
Sidney Velo to marshal the TT, and do the timekeeping, Kurt Innes is organizing all the coaches, clinics and track competition, lots of great coaches (Jeff Ain, Devo coaches, etc). Jenny Skinner is kindly letting us use Windsor park circuit for the camp from 8-10am. Kate Weber and Carmen Welta are doing registration and results, some GVVA members will help for bike set up and general help at the track.
Still need:
Friday and Saturday- Picnic Hosts
A team to do the shopping, serving and clean up for the picnic dinner Friday, and Saturday lunch. Tables and tents provided. Basically the meals are an assortment of breads, sandwich fillings, salads and fruit for make your own sandwiches. Likely about 40-50 riders plus coaches.
Friday and Sunday
Some extra marshals for Friday evening 6-7pm. (picnic dinner included.)
Saturday
A few holders, timekeepers, rider marshals (to help coaches), riding peers too, to help coaches demonstrate drills.
Sunday
Jenny Skinner has just had a baby so is a little behind for Sunday at Windsor. Extra marshals would be nice to put her mind at rest. Post here, + email her direct at jenny@oakbaybikes.com. 7:30-12, especially earlier hours.
