Cascades is the longest running pro stage race in the US. Jay was invited to ride with the Russ hays team. 15-20 July.

Photo is of a team spin before the start. He's in foreground, left side. Note the TS shorts. :)

In his first race since upgrading to a cat 1, he is riding well, just below top half in the prologue. http://www.cascade-classic.org/ccc2013/ ... RESULT.pdf

Five days to go. Go Jay!

Stage 4 was definitely not my best day in the saddle. Long uphill start, 30km @4% but very fast followed by another 150km. Crazy start with multiple big crashes in the first 10km, the race was even stopped to allow riders to get new bikes. One guy sent to the hospital with a broken collarbone. Needless to say I was pretty sketched out so when they restarted the race. My RH team mates were smart to move up early before the sh*t hit the fan. 20km up the start climb the pack crumbled and I was stuck behind 30guys going in the wrong direction. I tryed to weave in and out avoiding riders but soon I too turned into one of them fall further and further back. Shout out to Emile for some inspirational words. Ended up putting in a last dich effort to try and catch a large group that fell off as well, only to miss it at the top of the climb by a hundred meters. This group later caught back on :( . Stupidly I missed to feed zone drafting behind a fifthwheeler (don't tell my mom) and didn't have any water. I cramped up pretty bad and was forced to pull over and hop in the broom wagon. The worst part is that for you who don't know that if you don't finish a stage race stage or are outside of the time limit you don't get to start the next stage! So I'll be cheering on my team mates in the crit tomorrow!
Great work by the rest of RH's today. All the other riders made it all the way to final climb and only one of them was dropped even then. Still not last place in the team catagory :D
