A Big Thank You to Tripleshot..

While our son Jay was away in Ontario racing in Kitchener, then Waterloo and then at road nationals in Lac Megantic, we had time to breathe (not that we didn't miss you Jay!!), restock the fridge (calories!!) , and most importantly reflect on what it takes to make an 18yr old budding competitive cyclist. My thoughts are as follows; Besides all the usual stuff like being lucky to live in a fantastic cycling town, and Jay being what seems to be a good enough genetic/personality mix to survive the training regimen that the sport demands, there is something else. Community. I texted Lister Farrar recently and in an off the cuff comment said that it takes a community to raise a cyclist. The more I think about it, the more it rings true. Jays cycling experience was transformed by his connection with Triple Shot. Hanging out with all the junior riders (and all the parents) when he first started made it so fun for him, and for us too. As he progressed (and ate!) it became evident to us that one of Triple Shot greatest assets is the junior coach Lister Farrar. He has a remarkable connection to the junior riders, Jay included, and always seems to know what to say, whether the rider was happy with their race ride or not. Lister is a remarkable coach and Triple Shot is lucky to have him. I would encourage any and all TS members to make time to go watch the Junior riders race, and you'll see the magic too. Also so important are the other TS members who do the group rides in the early morning. Jay always comes home from those rides with epic stories of speed and sprints and, of course, coffee. Those who lend jay gear, like a TT helmet, or a too-fancy-for-our-budget wheelset for nationals, all are part of that community. We don't know how far Jay will go but what we are certain of is that Triple Shot Cycling is the core of the community that got Jay where he is. So Thanks! Roger L and Susan M.
