Mike & Dorothy S have graciously offered their yard for after the 100 miler. Anyone in the club is welcome to attend. You don't have to ride 100miles or even 1 mile, but since you are downtown anyways, why not stop by Beacon Hill for a lap or two. They are located a few blocks from the park, so pack a spare set of clothes to the 100 miler, invite your significant other, and join us afterwards. We will have tents put up in case of rain or extreme UV. There will be a BBQ, microwave, and of course washroom facilities available. Major details are below

What: An unsanctioned chance to hang out after an unsanctioned ride.
When: June 21 after the solstice ride finishes (10ish) - 2pm
Where: 1457 Thurlow (outside rain or shine)

What to bring -
Bring your own protein
Bring a potluck side dish (or drop one off the night before).
Bring a blanket/folding chair.

How to get there:
Street parking is limited and since we are a bike club after all, please try to ride down. There will be a safe spot to park your good bike.

Please RSVP here so that we have an idea of head count.

For those of you who might not be sure what Simon is referring to with the "100 miler", see the item headed "Second Inaugural Silly Summer Solstice 100 Miler" in the Ride Planning section of the forum. A totally unsanctioned and throughly fun way to go around in circles for 100 miles. We start at 4:30 a.m. (officially, but you can start at midnight or 2 a.m. if you want) this coming Saturday June 21 so you get to use your hi-tech bike light for at least 45 minutes. And it's a great way to practice group riding discipline - tuck in on the wheel in front and the laps just fly by! Generally, it's one-lap pulls and we do a healthy but NOT "Beacon Hill Green Jersey" pace. With enough folks out we will probably have different groups for different preferred velocities - but every group comes with lots of quality conversation and silly Solstice humour.

Lots of room in our yard after the event, so y'all come out - by car if you must, but we want to see a field of bikes aganst the fence and trees! We have seating for over 20 outside, so depending on turnout not all will have to bring chairs (easier to bike over that way!). Watch this space for more news, and as Simon says, RSVP us to help with planning.

Mike and Simon;

Thanks for coordinating both the physical and the social aspects of this (totally non-existent) TS event! I've been down with a cold since Sunday but hope to make it out for at least a few silly laps on Saturday. Regardless, I'll be there for the BBQ!

Cheers,
John

Too bad it's TrackFest this weekend. Too much cycling fun in this club!

What better way to celebrate TrackFest than with a pre-dawn start and 100 laps of the Beacon Hill Velodrome? Followed by Simon's made-at-your-table waffles?

I'm in.

Who else wants to join in the festivities? Riding is not mandatory, but highly encouraged (even if 100 miles is not possible on the day). As the highly revered lantern rouge from last year, I could really use some personal help at the BBQ, like getting food and drinks (for me of course). Last year my legs cramped up so badly at Nourish that I couldn't sit or stand. Sounds like fun right?!

I'm also in. In the case of inclement weather, let me suggest that Mike gets the Tripleshot awnings. They are probably at Lister's house. They are easy to set up and can turn a day of miserable wetness into tolerable fun. I borrowed them once for a block part barbeque and they saved the day. I hope Mike has a serious coffee station set up. I can bring beans if needed... Without caffeine the post 100-mile party could turn into a snoozefest...
